- Bone Density Exam Your doctor has recommended that you have a DEXA bone density exam. What is DEXA?
American Osteoporosis Services provides the most accurate and advanced technology available. How does the exam work? The examination takes approximately 15 minutes while you relax fully clothed and comfortable. Basically all it involves is for you to lie on your back and let the bone densitometer do all the work. Bone densitometry is a x-ray test that involves an extremely small dose of radiation. As in any medical procedure, if you think you are pregnant be sure to inform your physician. What precauctions should I take prior to the exam? If you have additional questions regarding your bone density exam or would like to schedule an exam, please call: Pilgrim Park Physicians @ 401-941-2999 |
